You will receive a complete schedule when you check in at orientation. The following is our most up-to-date schedule including highlights of the sessions offered.

DAY ONE

7:15-8:30am      

Orientation Check-IN

Step 1: Your student will check into the Lakeside Residential Community East Building.  Late residence hall check-in is 7:00-7:30 p.m. If your student is staying the night before orientation, check- in is 5:00-9:00 p.m. Times are the same for parents staying on campus.

Step 2: Check in at the Ferguson Center. (See map.)

Special Topic: Parent Session

10:00-11:30am  

College and School Visit I: Introduction to Academics

During a visit with department representatives, students and parents will learn about the academic division in which they are most interested, including credit hours necessary to graduate, prerequisite courses, and curricula.

11:30am-12:30pm

Lunch in Ferguson with your Student

12:30-1:15pm

Bama Essentials –Learn important information about essential resources and services on campus. 

1:30-2:30pm

Conversation with  UA Students—Rated by parent as one of the most helpful and enjoyable sessions, this is your change to interact with UA students and ask them questions on a vast range of topics.  Students speak briefly of their careers at the University.  This session is designated for parents to ask UA students about life at the Capstone.

2:45-3:45pm

College and School Visit II: Advisement

4:00-5:00pm

Capstone Connections & Special Topics for Parents

5:30-6:30pm

Dinner at Lakeside Dining Hall

DAY TWO

Housing Check-Out

8:00-9:00

Parents Association Breakfast – Enjoy breakfast and interaction with other parents including an address by a senior University administrative staff member. 

9:15-10:00

Conversation with UA Parents—This is your opportunity to get tips and advice from parents of current UA students.  Ask them for tips about how to best support your student or the one thing they wish they had known.
